Nottinghamshire ( 59), Nottingham, Thomas Burrowes
Seventeenth century token
Obv: THOMAS BVRROWES = Burr & Rose
Rev: IN NOTTINGHAM = Castle
BW 59, Norweb 3529.
Nearly Very Fine and better than the Norweb specimens.
The Norweb authors were not convinced by the statement in Preston-Morley & Pegg (1981) that the device above the rose on the obverse is a burr (thus representing the first part of the issuer's name), but on this example it is hard to see that the device could be anything else.
