About Very Fine, extremely rare and important. The Latin inscription on the reverse roughly translates as "If you drink wine, visit the Antelope", an exceptionally rare example of an explicit commercial advertisement on a 17th century token.
The Antelope Inn lay on the south-west side of Smithfield, near Hosier Lane and Pie Corner. It was sufficiently well established to be marked on Ogilby and Morgan's map of the City of London of 1676.
