London (2049), New Palace Yard, Symon Norcott at Ye Golden Starr, Halfpenny

17th century token

Westminster (Metropolitan Middlesex)

New Palace Yard

Symon Norcott at Ye Golden Starr

BW 2049, Norweb -.

Fine to Good Fine.  Extremely rare.

New Palace Yard was also referred to as the "New Pallace" in the 1666 Hearth Tax returns, where Simon Norcote is recorded as having five hearths.  This token (together with the fragment in the Museum of London) suggest that the issuer's first name should be spelled "Symon", not "Simon" as in Williamson.
